Fungemia and Intraocular Involvement

  • Routine ophthalmology consults are NOT recommended for patients with systemic candidemia who are visually asymptomatic. The incidence of candidemia-related endophthalmitis detected through routine screenings is <1%. 
  • Consult ophthalmology if the patient has visual symptoms.
